A Tool to Avoid Landing on the FCC Telemarketing Blacklist
If you conduct outbound telemarketing, you have a real interest in protecting your organization from consumer complaints and potential government fines tied to the FCC telemarketing blacklist.
What is the FCC telemarketing blacklist?
On October 21, 2015, the FCC announced it would begin releasing data on all informal complaints it receives about unwanted robocalls and telemarketing calls. The FCC has stated it "does not verify all of the facts alleged in these complaints" — but has published the callers' telephone numbers anyway, effectively creating a non-fact-checked telemarketer blacklist.
What's the impact of landing on it?
At the FCC's urging, telephone companies and app builders are starting to offer call-blocking services built on this blacklist. That raises a real question: will 100% of your telemarketing calls still reach your customers, prospects, or members?
What you can do about it
Quality Voice & Data stays ahead of the curve to keep our clients' calls getting through. Our Blacklist Alert Service actively monitors the Local Caller ID numbers we assign against the FCC blacklist, and exchanges any impacted number for a new one at your request.
- We alert you by email if any Local Caller ID number we've assigned to you appears on the FCC blacklist.
- At your request, we immediately replace an impacted number with a new one.
- Every new Local Caller ID number request is pre-screened against the blacklist before it's provisioned to you.
Beyond blacklist protection, pairing the right display name with your Local Caller ID number still matters for answer rate: use your company name if it's a well-respected brand, or your product name if that's what customers recognize. Pairing a brand name with a local phone number can double your answer rate compared to an 800 number.
